Glimmer & Freshen Rooms with Silver & Gold Accents

Monday, March 2nd, 2015

The 2015 Golden Globes treated us to a red carpet full of high fashion. Dazzling metallics were among one of the top trends. Our favorite looks from the star-studded evening were the silver and gold gowns dawned by Sienna Miller, Reese Witherspoon and Juliana Moore. These elegant looks have inspired me to think about designing with silver and gold.

Lustrous metallics have a special way of creating a certain glow in interior design. Silver and gold instantly adds an element of glamour and luxury. More than a shiny treat for the eye, these precious metallics go beyond a mere glimmer to empower interior designs with texture and dimension. Here are some of my favorite ideas right now for incorporating silver and gold into interior design.

The romantic, old Hollywood glamour of the metallic masterpiece that Reese Witherspoon wore so well reminded me of this glistening design featuring patterned wall covering and a mirrored chest. Both have a classic and timeless feel with a fresh twist.

Sienna Miller’s stunning gown is the perfect marriage of modern edginess and vintage charm. A similarly alluring combination of contemporary lines and antique gold and silver accents is what makes this design so fabulous.

Metallic floral wall covering and silver hardware makes for a radiant powder room design. What’s more brilliant is the wood and stone vanity that warms the space while bringing out the earthier tones of the wall covering.

A contemporary living room with a sleek gray palette is made even more chic with silver decor. Gray and silver is an unbeatable pair. It’s almost monotone but yet has the perfect amount of contrast to catch the eye.

Is there a space in your home that could benefit from a little shimmer? Would you go for the gold with metallic wall paper or furniture?
